Military power of BRICS & Finland

BRICS (acronym - Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) is a grouping of the world economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Bilateral relations among BRICS are conducted mainly on the basis of non-interference, equality, and mutual benefit. The BRICS nations are considered a geopolitical rival to the G7 bloc.

On August 24, 2023, the expansion of the group on January 1, 2024 was announced to include Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. On 29 December 2023 the Government of Argentina officially announce that Argentina will not join the BRICS. This is due to the change of president to Javier Milei.

Finland is a country located in Northern Europe with an area of 338,424 km² (land boundries: 2,563 km and costline 1,250 km). The capital of Finland is Helsinki. The number of inhabitants is 5,536,146.

Finland was not a member of NATO, but Finland and NATO actively cooperated in peace-support operations, exercised together, and exchanged analysis and information. Finland is a signatory of the EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP). On 5 July 2022, NATO signed the accession protocol for Finland to join the alliance. The inventory of the Finnish Defense Forces consists of a wide mix of mostly modern US, European, and domestically-produced weapons systems.
