Canada is a member of NATO and was one of the original 12 countries to sign the North Atlantic Treaty. Canada is part of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). The Canadian's inventory is a mix of domestically-produced equipment and imported weapons systems from Australia, Europe, Israel, and the USA. The leading supplier is the United States. Canada's defense industry develops, maintains, and produces a range of equipment, including aircraft, combat vehicles, naval vessels.

A twenty-year strategic treaty extended or another 5 years after its expiration in February 2022. Currently, China focuses on domestic weapon designs and manufacturing, while still importing certain military products from Russia, such as jet engines. In September 2018, Russia hosted the militaries of China and Mongolia as a part of the Vostok 2018 military exercise. Russia and China flew joint bomber patrols over the Pacific. China refused to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Following the implementation of international sanctions during the war, China provided economic relief to Russia.
